Cellar No. 8
1 recommendation
"Great article on the history of the winery from SFGate, but all you really need to know is that this is a damn decent bottle of cab (I haven't tried the other varietals yet) for right around $8. How do you beat that for casual "I might not finish the whole bottle" drinking? I pick it up at TJs but have seen it in bars and restaurants and other grocery stores as well."
2006 Jack Creek Cellars Pinot Noir
1 recommendation
"This is an excellent Pinot Noir that we found on a trip to Santa Barbara. A great special occasion wine, very smooth. Somewhat expensive (I think around $30/bottle), but worth it."
Taft Street Winery

"They made an excellent 2006 Pinot Noir of the not overly fruity variety that is a surefire way to butter up my boyfriend's mother. It's nice and light and delicious. Tasting notes say there are "luscious aromas of blackberry, vanilla and spice followed by a concentrated medley of fruit. A balanced acidity brings the wine into harmony, and the finish is long and elegant." The folks that work he..."
Greg Norman Estates: Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir
1 recommendation
"Made using an uncommon blend of South Australian Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, this sparkling wine is a Greg Norman original. And a great bottle to explore with a special friend, holiday guests, or a host or hostess. Cheers !"
San Simeon Monterey Pinot Noir 2006

"I find that one of the flavors I tend to prefer in wines, and part of my fascination with red wines in general, is the taste of cherry. This wine was satisfactory, very warm and with that fruit flavor I like, without being sweet."

"This site is fantastic! The spies recommend one special wine each day and their wines are always the best wines available. They also sell all of their wines at a discount - and have the best deals anywhere. Customer service is tops and their "Top Secret" wine boxes arrive quickly, and usually with added goodies. I have ordered several times and really recommend them!"
2007 Francis Coppola "Sofia" Carneros Pinot Noir Rosé

"They say, "This wine's seductive, feminine wiles will enchant you from the moment you pop the cork. A sparkling rosé with a strawberry and rose petal perfume followed by juicy flavors reminiscent of framboise, red cherry and citrus zing. It's fruity, but not cloying, crisp and refreshing. This is the perfect wine for imagining yourself at a beachfront café in the South of France." I say, "This ..."
2006 Westrey "Reserve" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
1 recommendation
"They say, "A barrel selection of the best of their single-vineyard pinots, this wine shows rich blueberry fruit with a touch of Oregon earthiness. This ripe fruit is balanced by great acidity and structure with fine tannins on the finish that show a great potential for ageing." I say, "A sweet, chocolatey and berry wine that delighted us and our friends. I would definitely buy another bottle of..."
Trefethen Family Vineyards - s.i.n. Rose of Pinot Noir
1 recommendation
"This is a hilarious take on wine - the seductive flavors of summer and the sweet smells make for a sinfully delicious rose wine. Very yummy berry flavors that pair well with spicy food and white meat."
Kutch Wines - 2005 Russian River Valley Pinot Nior
1 recommendation
"This is a pricier wine, but its smooth and soft texture make it worth it. I am not a huge red wine fan but this Pinot has a little bit of sweet. It has a hint of cherry in the smell."
Fiddlehead Cellars Pinot Noir Willamette Valley Oldsville Reserve 2005
1 recommendation
"Willamette, dammit. :) This wine is delicious. Somewhat hard to come by, a little on the pricey side, but it just won't let you down. Unless you're the kind of red wine drinker who only likes 'em big and bold. This one's not big and bold, it's subtle and refined and happiness in a glass."

"Melville Winery makes the most amazing Pinot. They grow in the Santa Rita Hills and they make small collections that sell quick. This is a must try. 2004-05 Pinot's were amazing and the 2006 wont be anything to complain about either."
Jan Barboglio Wine Decanter

"This was one of my absolute favorite wedding gifts! We got a couple other wine decanters, but this rustic Jan Barboglio is truly a piece of art. The etched glass is hand blown and the iron wrought stopper must weigh a good 12 ounces."

"If you even dare to break open a bottle of this wine, it is good, but the lable and name are quite scary. Perfect for a cozy, creepy night on Halloween."
2006 Melville Estate Pinot Noir – Verna's Vineyard

"Melville makes great terroir driven wines just north of Santa Barbara in Lompoc. Their focus is Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Chardonnay and represent great value for the quality. I especially enjoy the clean style of the Pinot Noir's, definitively Californian with pure fruit, but not over the top."
Brick House Wines

"Superior Oregon Pinot Noir, made with organically grown grapes. Doug Tunnel makes some of most favorite wines to drink, and they are a testament to the power of careful, all-natural viticulture."
Metrokane V1 Vacuum Decanter

"there are plenty of vacuum tools to use on a bottle, but this is apparently the world's first vacuum on a decanter. the decanter is ugly, but sometimes, function is more important than fashion."
Wine Cellar Sorbets

"Wine flavored sorbet? They must have been dreaming about me when they made this. The champagne flavor is especially good. It's light and refreshing and the alcohol doesn't overwhelm it at all."

"What to get your drunkard friend who has everything? VINTURi! More reasons to get this gadget... 1. wine needs to breathe simply hold vinturi over a glass and pour wine through. vinturi draws in and mixes the proper amount of air for the right amount of time, allowing your wine to breathe instantly. you'll notice a better bouquet, enhanced flavors and smoother finish. it's that fast. it's that..."

"I like it stylistically and because I have a strong visual sense. Functionally, it doesn´t really matter what you decant into!"
Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinto
2 recommendations
"The 2003 Sonoma Coast Pinot was #11 on the list and has capped off Kosta Browne's rise to cult status for California Pinot. You will have to try the 2004, since the 2003 has been blown out. For that matter, try any of this winemaker's Pinot's that you can find, they are awesome."

"Say what? A red wine drinkers rose'? Yes! This is perfect for spring/summer BBQ's when it might be too hot to drink a red but need something fantastic to go with that steak. Or chicken. Or apps. Or what ever. It's just good."
