Chivers Blackcurrant Jelly
1 recommendation
"Think gelatin, not jam. And ignore how awful this sounds and just try it- mix a packet of this with chopped beets and let it set. I know what you're thinking but I swear to God it's delicious...."
Traditional Irish Breakfast Pack
1 recommendation
"If you know anyone Irish- really Irish- that you'll be putting on your holiday gift list, consider sending them a full traditional Irish breakfast package from Ireland. All the brands and tastes we love, all in one place...."
Heinz Salad Cream
1 recommendation
"If I had to choose a "last sandwich EVER," chances are it would have Heinz salad cream on it. No longer do I have to cart it back from Ireland- it's delivered straight to my door these days. Irish bacon + tomatoes + Brennan's toasted white bread + salad cream = foodgasms"
Robinson's Orange Barley Water
1 recommendation
"No, you don't taste the barley, silly. And whatever you do, don't forget to DILUTE it before you drink it! I'd always have a 'glass of orange' when I'd come home from the pub or to start the day. Sometimes the timing of those was a bit too close for comfort. But I digress. Great stuff, this. Great stuff."
Bird's Custard Powder
1 recommendation
"Add milk and sugar and voila! The creamiest, yummiest custard ever. I use it for Irish trifle- layer fresh berries, jams, custard and pound cake sprinkled with sherry (of COURSE there's booze in it. Did you expect otherwise from me?). Bird's is the only "real" custard on earth, in my opinion.... ; )"
Robertson's Lemon Curd
1 recommendation
"If you're not used to lemon curd on toast, this may be a bit on the sweet side for you. But for those of you from England and Ireland... well, you know how delicious it is. It can be used as filling for tarts and pies as well, fyi."
McVities Milk Chocolate Digestives
1 recommendation
"My absolute favorite of the McVities' cookies- the milk chocolate digestives. Horrible name, that. "Digestives." But the taste? Oh my god, delicious. Here's the trick- dip them in a hot cup of tea juuuust long enough (maybe 2-3 seconds) to get the chocolate a bit melted but NOT long enough to make the cookie soggy or it will fall into the cup. Yep. It's an art form."
Cadbury Chocolate Flakes
1 recommendation
"Every year when I go back to Ireland I get a request from all our Irish friends on this side of the pond- BRING BACK FLAKES. BOXES AND BOXES OF FLAKES! Sigh. I literally load up on cases of chocolate at duty free on my way home. Thank god they're now available here. So those of you who always ask? Bugger off. Now, once you've secured this most gorgeous of candy products, what can you do with it..."
One Night Stand Halloween Costume
1 recommendation
"Get even more creative and glue some additional funny stuff on the table. Maybe a fake ID of one of your least favorite politicians or evangelical preachers.... Or for the truly daring, add some photos of your own most frightful one-night stands. Unless, like myself, you are much too pure to have any of those skeletons in your closet."
Lucky Charms Costume
1 recommendation
"Last year I did a mash-up of this costume and went as the One-Night Stand of the Lucky Charms Leprechaun. Think green she-leprechaun costume, fake hickeys in the shape of the marshmallow charms and... well, you get the idea."
Jacobs Club Milk 6 pack
1 recommendation
"Crack on a wafer. That's how addictive they are.... especially if you do the "3-second dip" in tea. Don't say you weren't warned."
Irish Style Sausages
1 recommendation
"I know, I know, they're pink and phallic and plump... and ohhhh so delicious. Bangers are an essential part of a traditional Irish breakfast."
Ribena Blackcurrant Drink
1 recommendation
"Another favorite beverage when I'm in Ireland. One of those, "tastes great and is good for you, too" drinks...."
