""this time they’re performing duets with the original singers. The other way NV3 differs from its predecessors is in the arrangements of the songs. Aside from the reggae and bossa nova interpretations, the songs are also inspired by country music and bluegrass. For this is what they do best; they take the songs that you adore and make you fall in love with them all over again.""

"Ever since discovering the WFMU program "Radio Freetown" I've been hooked on African Funk. Lucky for me there seems to be a lot of music in the genre out there, I tend to look for collections like this one, which makes driving in L.A. an intoxicating experience."
DAVID BYRNE: Grown Backwards

"I haven't been too excited by David Byrne's recent albums with the exception of Grown Backwards. This is a great album that reminds me of why I like David Byrne. Track Favorites: Tiny Apocalypse Au Fond du Temple Saint Glass Concrete and Stone"
Entertainment: Gang of Four

"Gang of Four came on hot and heavy on their early recordings, "Entertainment" contains many of their signature pre-Euro tracks, the sound is all raw energy, perfect for dancing or smelting in a Black Sea hotel."
POLITICAL CANDIDATE NOTE HOLDERS
1 recommendation
"Now, we can finally put those talking heads to good use. Funny and functional, political Zortz are clothespin puppets that can hold anything from notes, pens, keys, toothbrushes and more! Put them to good use, play with them, have a little political puppet show, or use them to show support for your favorite presidential candidate. Choose from Barack Obama, John McCain or Hillary Clinton."
Remain in Light ~ Talking Heads

"This is my favorite American Afro Funk album from the 80's. Danceable, funky, quirky, arty, and urgent, just like the times in which it was composed in."
Roxy Music: Country Life
1 recommendation
"Take a trip back to the days before the New Romantics, when Roxy Music created rocket fueled ballads which touch upon WWII songwriters. The Thrill Of It All, Out Of The Blue, Triptych, Casanova, Prairie Rose are prequels to songs later crafted by Nick Cave's Bad Seeds, Japan, Duran Duran, Talking Heads and others."
True Stories
1 recommendation
"True Stories is a quiet little gem that came out in the 80's. Directed by and starring David Byrne of the Talking Heads, this satire/mocumentary is to me one of the finest social commentaires on Regan Era urbanization of America, the death of the small town, and the parody that our obsession with fashion and fame can bring into our lives. Oh. And it's really, really funny. With stellar perform..."
David Byrne - Look Into The Eyeball

"This is an amazing album by an amazing musician. If you love the Talking Heads, you MUST give Byrne's solo work a listen. This is the first of his solo work I listened to; now I own everything he's done with and since the Talking Heads. I personally feel like this album is his most accessible solo to date, with the recent Everything That Happens Will Happen Today (with Brian Eno) a close second..."

""Stop Making Sense" is the best concert movie ever made bar none. It's not just me saying that. I've read it multiple times. Jonathan Demme created a masterpiece when he directed "Stop Making Sense". Of course, he had great material to work with. The movie was filmed during the Talking Heads' "Speaking in Tongues" Tour. I had seen the show in August 1983 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles and ..."
Arboretum

"David Byrne's new book of mental musings, Arboretum, explores the many intricate and interesting correlations in our lives. In this book, Byrne, the visual artist, explores his mental space in a tree-like fashion. Byrne explains the drawings: Well, I guess they're a lot of things. Faux science, automatic writing, self-analysis, satire, and maybe even a serious attempt at finding connection..."

"I got this at Best Buy on Black Friday for an insanely awesome price of $999. The TV has some of the darkest blacks I've seen and play my Comcast HD content beautifully. The only thing is that this doesn't support 1080P but broadcast channels aren't expected to get there for many years and I'm not expecting to get HD-DVD or Blu-Ray anytime soon so the TV works out great for me. Colors are wel..."

Stop Making Sense: Special New Edition (1984 Film)

"If you don't have the DVD of Stop Making Sense, make sure you pick up the CD. The original release wasn't very good. It missed a lot of songs. I used to tape the video on a 100 minute cassette (yes, dating myself but some of you must remember that ancient technology) in order to get the full concert. The new CD of "Stop Making Sense" comes close."
Miles Fisher: EP

"Miles Fisher's cover of "This Must be the Place" is just awesome. It one ups Byrne's original imo. The video borders on genius too."
