"Plastic snap assembled seaweed- design inspired by nature. This forgotten treasure of tidepools is actually made of plastic and can snap together with other algae to create a curtain, screen or wall decoration. They're 12 inches by 8 inches each, and are available in red, green, black or white. $25 for a set of six."

"I found the replica for $22.60, not a George Nelson. I bought a silver one (close cousin) for $27.00. I don't think this awesome pharmacy/deco store knows what they have (I think it will be my little secret) either way, it sure beats paying $350 to $400 dollars for the real thing. The real one rocks!"

wooden dolls by alexander girard
1 recommendation
"Inspired by the cultures of South America, Asia and Eastern Europe, Alexander Girard originally created this set of dolls for himself. Faithfully reproduced by Vitra using Girard's drawings, these dolls are now available to give and collect. They remind me of my favorite ride at DisneyLand: "It's A Small World" . . . and the hope for harmony that the Olympic Games has tried to ignite within our ..."
Porcupine Desk by Hella Jongerius
1 recommendation
"This child's desk by Vitra and designed by Hella Jongerius is both brilliantly designed and nice to look at. It comes in pink/brown or blue/olive and has little holes in the wooden top to hold pencils-- hence the name, Porcupine desk. Makes me want to be a kid again."

hive modern: omar the owl clock by Vitra

"Originally designed by George Nelson in 1965, "omar" is now made by Vitra in Poland and, unlike most products nowadays, its battery is included. If you need to keep track of the time, it should be fun, entertaining and/or clever. I think "omar" is all three and a bag of chips."
hive modern: limited edition panton chair by Vitra
1 recommendation
"If you have always wanted one of these gorgeously curved chairs but were uninspired by the color options available, you may want to reconsider. Vitra has made a limited number of the panton in pale blue and pale pink, perfect for a baby's room or for your own pastel-hued office. I am dying for one in pink myself."

Designer Chair Collection Volume 5 - Giant Robot Store
1 recommendation
"The Vitra Design Museum designer chair collection is almost as expensive as the modern chair itself. I've lusted after mid-century modern reissued furniture & accessories for years, and have filled my house with Danish Modern and vintage furniture, but I wanted a small modern dollhouse to fill with every kind of chair I've ever wished for. Eventually I will spend the money on the real Vitra chairs..."

"Sometimes the classics need a nod. This unit, designed by Dorothee Maurer-Becker, was great when it was introduced in 1969 and it's still great now. As someone with Attention Deficit Disorder, I can especially appreciate any design that keeps things visible, organized and close at hand. I WILL own one of these some day."
