WOW. The Jewish Museum Limited Edition Sterling Boller Menorah: Numbered limited edition of 200 menorahs. This Hanukkah lamp is a replica of a work in the collection of The Jewish Museum. The original is among the earliest known examples of the menorah form that was created for home use. These domestic versions were first made in Frankfurt, Germany, in the late seventeenth century. The decoration on the arms conforms to the biblical description of the seven-branch menorah made for the Tabernacle in the Wilderness: âthree cups made like almond blossoms, in one branch, a knob and a flowerâ (Exodus 25:31-40). Various animals, including a stag, a squirrel, and a camel, ornament the lid for the oil containers, while at the top stands the biblical heroine Judith. The Book of Judith recounts how she saved her town in ancient Israel when it was under siege by the Assyrian general Holofernes. Pretending to be interested in a romantic liaison with Holofernes, Judith waited until he had passed out from too much liquor and cut off his head. During the medieval period, Judith came to be associated with the Maccabees, important figures in the story of Hanukkah, and thus with the holiday. Each comes in a sturdy wooden storage box. Why I love it ? I'm a fragrance lover, especially of Italian fragrance. This is a limte edition of my birthday's gift (hopefully for my husband, he didn't bought the limited edition :)) From Base Note :Acqua di Parma have just announced the release of a limited edition flacon for their 1916 fragrance Colonia Acqua di Parma as worn by stars such as Ava Gardner and David Niven. The new release, called Colonia Edizione Murano, is the same classic fragrance, popular for its fresh Sicilian citrus, roses, lavender, rosemary and oriental wood essences, whilst the art deco style flacon has been given a striking new look. Working with renowned contemporary artist Giorgio Vigna, Acqua di Parma will release 1,100 hand signed and numbered flacons. Fired in kilns on the Venetian island of Murano, the bottles are hand blown glass and echo the traditional art deco style of the original but now incorporating the contrasting vibrance of the yellow and black Acqua di Parma logo. The yellow silk lined, black velvet coffret contains the exclusive bottle, adorned with a silver plate at the neck bearing the Acqua di Parma logo and a bakelite cap, and a small funnel for decanting the fragrance. This collector's piece will be available from March.
