This reminds me of a mobile my mom always had hanging under our staircase inside. It would sway in the breeze as you walked by...This would be a great addition to a nursery where the traditional mobile just wouln't do. Hang it high in the corner for you and the little one to watch.

Is that an eagle landing on my scalp? Did that flock of seagulls release their bowels on my forehead? Why do I have antlers? These are all questions you may be asking yourself whilst standing in front of a mirror from The Design Can's SELF-PORTRAIT Mirror collection. Are they easy questions to answer? No. Such is life. The mirrors are laser cut, leaving funny-shaped holes in the 1/8" thick acrylic. Steven Tomlinson and Jeannie Choe both earned their BFAs in Industrial Design from the prestigious Pratt Institute in 2003. They soon founded The Design Can, a firm that celebrates a lighter, but just as beautiful, side of design. To read their story, just follow the link...

A brilliant look at the controversy surrounding science and intelligent design (which is basically creationism re-branded), a flock of dodos explore not the evidence for or against the ideas, but looks at the people, the situations and the controversy. A must read for anyone who enjoys science debate and history.

Dried petals of a wildflower. A semi-precious stone with fascinating imperfections. Shards of beach glass, or a found button. A note from your lover. The treasure locket is perfect for those of us who find and get attached to small objects that get lost in the bottom of a pocket or handbag, but don't quite fit in a wallet. It will keep those trifling but meaningful objects close to you at all times. You can use it to carry a tiny photograph or a good luck charm, or a scroll of paper with your favorite quote on it. The swallows depicted on the lid and bottom of this treasure locket are inspired by the flocks of swallows make a 6,000 mile trek every March from Goya, Argentina to Mission San Juan Capistrano, California.

Talk about a recipe for fun… If anything makes me want to bake a cake or something, it’s this flock of four nesting geese measuring cups. They’re made of bone china, and it’s safe to pop them in the microwave or dishwasher. Now someone needs to create measuring spoons that look like chicks.

Okay, so the hair is over-the-top and the name sounds more like a book title than a band name, but there is no denying that the "Flock" enjoyed more than a few days in the spotlight. And for good reason, I believe. "Space Age Love Song" will always get me on my feet (unless I'm driving, of course.)

Maybe I just like the name of it. I saw it in the Anthropologie catalog I just got in the mail and swooned. I've got to wait until it is on sale, but there has got to be an occasion for me to wear this. I love the pleated neckline and the feminine swing in the skirt. The yellow and black splashes of color are modern and fun. WANT!

This is an impressive little package. Compared to my beloved treo 650, it trades the 650's touch screen for wifi. I'm convinced that any navigation that involves the treo's touch screen is about five times slower than using the ubiquitous rocker button interface, so that doesn't seem like much of a loss. And the wifi is a huge gain! It's much smaller than the treo. The screen is lower resolution, but the quality seemed on par with the treo 650. Of course it does run Windows Mobile rather than PalmOS. The main reasons I'm afraid of Windows Mobile are: I would have to re-purchase all the apps I already own on PalmOS; I'd have to migrate all my calendar, contact, etc data from the treo; I don't know how well Windows Mobile syncs with linux. I haven't heard great things about Windows Mobile in general, but then PalmOS is nothing to write home about either. It's benefited from nothing but the most cosmetic updates over the past 10 years. They seem to be in the same position Apple was in 2000. If they can successfully make the leap to Access Linux Platform (analogous to Apple's OSX), they might stay ahead of Microsoft. But it looks to me like Palm is currently focusing on new hardware rather than overhauling their aging OS.
