Suga are an Australian company who make old-fashioned candy. In all their stores, you can watch the candy being formed before your eyes, and sample pieces fresh from the warm slab. In addition to making old favourites like humbugs, musk, bullseyes and acid drops, Suga make rock candy in all sorts of fruit flavours. Best of all, they can customise candy with simple images or words running throughout each piece. Favours include: apple, banana, blueberry, blackcurrant, cherry, kiwi, lemon, lime, mango, orange, passionfruit, pineapple, raspberry, watermelon, acid drops, bullseyes, humbugs, cola, musk, sour raspberry, rhubarb and custard, strawberry and cream, spearmint, peppermint.

It’s a whole lime that’s been dried out. You smash two together to break one and crush it into a flaky powder. Try it in meat stews.

One box of Pinky Mandarine Orange Mint. I love pinky candy. I came across them while travelling to japan, and I bought something like 10 boxes while in LA a few month ago. This is my last box, so I will have to find a new supplier soon. I just love the little pinky monkey, and there is usually a single monkey shaped candy in each box.

White Rabbit candies are so bad for my TMJ. But they are SO GOOD for when I'm on deadline and just want to gnaw and gnaw on something sugary and milky and superchewy. I tried the red bean last week (yum city); now I'm very curious about the lychee.

There is a sub-category of the snack world in Japan that is geared towards keeping you awake and alert. The poor overworked salaryman or student swotting towards the dreaded university entrance exam are the consumer targets. This candy belongs in that category. It's basically a chewy lemon gummy candy that's coated with super-sour powder that makes you go"WHA!" Pop one in your mouth and you are ready for another half hour of tedious paperwork/coding/studying.
