Delight trick-or-treaters and Halloween party guests with old-fashioned fruit-flavored lollipops. From a small, family-owned American confectionery, these sweets are hand made in small batches, using a recipe from the early 1940s. The ingredients are combined in open kettles, then poured into traditional candy molds. The secret ingredient is barley sugar, which gives them a hint of delicate, cotton candy-like sweetness. The set includes three varieties: orange-flavored pumpkins, grape-flavored ghosts and black cherry-flavored bats. Each one is individually wrapped for sharing. Set of six, two of each flavor. 12 oz

OK, so I'm being totally self-promoting, but I'm more proud of this book than anything I've ever done. I spent 7 months along with 2 assistants obsessively breaking apart fast food dishes. And the Cinnabon recipe alone was worth every minute of it.

Book description: "The choice to follow a vegan lifestyle is simple when you’ve got a cookbook full of delicious recipes representing the very best of gourmet, ethnic, and basic cuisine—served up vegan style! Even better, these dishes are tailored to fit a student’s schedule and budget, making a vegan diet possible for just about anybody. Carole Raymond brings flavor and depth to vegan food with just a few inexpensive ingredients and recipes that are simple enough for even dorm-room cooks to wow their friends. Raymond also includes nutrition information that is vital to a healthy vegan lifestyle, as well as tips on stocking a vegan pantry, innovative substitute ingredients for all the foods you love, and suggestions on how to experiment with vegan dishes and make each mouthwatering recipe your own." This is great for any college student experimenting with the "hippy lifestyle" or for those people allergic to eggs or dairy products. Even though I'm a dedicated carnivore, since my daughter is allergic to eggs, vegan dessert recipes are great. Since she's also allergic to soy milk and all nuts, I'll just substitute cow's milk and get rid of the nuts altogether.

Book description: "When most people think of Cajun cooking, they think of blackened redfish or, maybe, gumbo. When Terri Pischoff Wuerthner thinks of Cajun cooking, she thinks about Great-Grandfather Theodore’s picnics on Lake Carenton, children gathering crawfish fresh from the bayou for supper, and Grandma Olympe’s fricassee of beef, because Terri Pischoff Wuerthner is descended from an old Cajun family. Through a seamless blend of storytelling and recipes to live by, Wuerthner’s In a Cajun Kitchen will remind people of the true flavors of Cajun cooking. In a Cajun Kitchen presents readers with a treasure trove of authentic Cajun recipes: roasted pork mufaletta sandwiches, creamy crab casserole, breakfast cornbread with sausage and apples, gumbo, shrimp fritters, black-eyed pea and andouille bake, coconut pralines, pecan pie, and much more. In a Cajun Kitchen is a great work of culinary history, destined to be an American cookbook classic that home cooks will cherish." Big Bad Dad is the Cajun fan around here. He made the Cream Oyster Soup and the Oyster and Pork Jambalaya. Easy to make and fantastic (especially when you find oysters the size of poached eggs). If you love Cajun food or just want to celebrate Mardi Gras in true style, get this cookbook!
