These bracelets are eye-catching pieces of art in their own right, but they also carry an important message about the importance of safeguarding freedom of expression and the right to read. The adult-sized bracelet features such books as Go Ask Alice, The Color Purple, and Howl -- all books that have been challenged or banned by book censors at various times.

I read this book in two days, four sittings. Thats not because it was short, but because it was very very good. I hate the cliche but it was a real page turner and really draws you in to it. You feel as if you are being guided to some strage and twisted fate. The story is based around a boy Michele, who sees something awful and it changes his perceptions about life, growing up and his friends/family. At times you feel his pain and sadness, but are helpless as the story unfolds with tragic consequences. DO NOT MISS OUT ONN THIS BOOK

Okay, so I read the book AFTER I saw the movie, but one gave me a greater appreciation for the other, so I highly recommend both. As for the movie, Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts are paired so beautifully and convincingly as reporter and law student respectively that their mutual respect for one another adds tremendous dramatic tension to this already fast-paced drama. And now that our planet is in peril the story line itself becomes an additional element of the life-or-death crisis.

I read this book to my son when he was very young and terrified of spiders. The screaming that would go on until I got rid of the beast! Today, he won't let me kill any living thing, no matter how small and annoying. It is a fablous book, beautifully illustrated in that 1950-60's style that has been lost. It is a true classic, one that certainly has made a difference in my child's perception of spiders (and all living creatures).

This book is a series of conversations w/Bono, lead singer of U2 and one of the few celebrities who use their fame to improve the world. I love U2 but I read this book more as a case study in leadership, commitment, and contribution, not as a fan. If you want to get a sense for how a highly charismatic leader built a global brand and is changing the world, I recommend you read this. Great for entrepreneurs, activists, and people who want to effectively engage the world. Good for fans too ;-)

Dear Michael Perry - I just got off a flight from Madison,Wi to San Francisco, Ca. I read your book. I love it. I really love it. You are a poetic novelist and there are too few of those in this day and age, what with all the Chick LIt out there (I'm not slamming it, I read it too) and crappy books. Finally, there is something I can read and even relate to! Your imagery when it comes to the smell of cold glass and the inside workings of a buddy's garage, well, what can I say, Michael, I feel at home. Anyways, a super big thanks for writing me back on my emails and sending me the promo stuff. . you are a great guy and an inspiring author. That's all I have to say about that. bk

Arguably Neal Stephenson's best novel, this fast paced thriller races through a bizarre near-future America full of crazy cults, franchise governments, designer drugs and the Metaverse. A virtual reality successor to the internet, the Metaverse is one of the best sci-fi concepts I've read about. The vision is so strong that during the first internet boom people were starting companies to build what this book described.

    Recommendation:

    • John_and_Rose

I read this book many years ago and can still recall many parts of it today. Ann Rule met Ted Bundy at a local crisis counseling center. Sharing long nights helping those who felt that suicide was the only option, they developed a friendship. She believed that she knew the handsome psychology major about to attend law school; however, she only knew a part of the man. Bundy was also a cold-blooded serial killer. This story follows Rule as she at first denies that the Bundy she knew could have committed these murders, and then the realization that he was ruthless, dangerous, and evil. Note: Amazon has developed an amazing program which allows authors to connect with their readers -- and vice versa.

I read this book and instantly knew it would be in heavy rotation. The clever wit of Dave Eggers makes this book truly remarkable. It leaves you in a sort of half-smile, wishing you were that clever. Trivia: Dave Egger's little brother, Christopher, was my brother's roommate (for a brief period) at Choate Rosemary Hall. Small world, huh?
