Not because you NEED to hold back the fat from your cabernet sauce, but because you need to use it to capture all the glorious fat for your Yorkshire puddings, the Kitchenaid gravy separator catches all the browned bits in a strainer, then lets the jus settle to the bottom while the fat rises to the top. With the measurement guide, you'll know just how much jus to add to your sauce, and just how much fat you've saved.

I purchased this mixer several months ago. I use it all of the time for cakes, cookies, spinach dip, and lots more. It has three different beater attachments which are used for different applications. The wire whip is not recommended for the dishwasher, but I have had no problems with the other attachments in the dishwasher. Its heavy and durable. Kitchenaid is a great appliance name, and this particular mixer in the caviar color has a slight sparkle to it.

As per Stephen Metcalf of Slate, the KitchenAid attachment has some advantages over an all-in-one machine like the Cuisinart because it has "the adjustable speed, allowing you to whip up a lighter, more aerated batter; and the mixer makes the initial batter-making—whipping the eggs into the sugar, then mixing in milk and cream—that much easier."

I already have the pink KitchenAid stand mixer sitting like a pretty little princess on my kitchen countertop, but if I were to bust like Sandra Lee and change my ENTIRE kitchen, servingware, and "tablescape" to match my outfit, I'd rock the persimmon mixer for my fall wardrobe.

This holiday season, I know I will be grateful for my KitchenAid mixer! I'm recommending the KitchenAid mixer today because it gets extra use during the holidays. I’m already starting bake pumpkin bread, apple pie, and seasonal cookies… and it’s only mid-October! This mixer was recommended to me about a year ago by my sister because of its “professional” performance. She’s into the cooking shows and I think she saw it on TV. Anyway, I bought the KitchenAid mixer on cookware.com and I have enjoyed using to ever since with no problems at all. My recipes come out really well when I use it, I like the different speeds and attachments, and most of all, it’s simple to use. For me, that’s most important. Mine is white, but they also come in different colors so you can match it with your kitchen. It’s definitely a must-have during the holidays… and can be used year round for decades to come!

I resisted Kitchenaid for ages (I even refused to put it on the wedding registry!), but last year I gave in and got the Kitchenaid Pro. To my surprise and relief, I love it; it mixes so evenly and makes baking much faster and easier. I like that with the Pro model you lower and raise the bowl, instead of lifting the head of the mixer.
