Set of three plastic bowls with lids. I use these incessantly. They go into the microwave nicely don't break when dropped, and are my item of choice for bringing food to the potluck. Since they are less than five dollars, if I never get them back, I won't cry. They come in various colours - I have seen blue and red - but you can't predict what colour will be available in the store.

When my roommate moved to California, taking our mixing bowls with her, I was stuck in quite the baker's predicament! Bed Bath & Beyond to the rescue with this awesome bowl set! Not only does it give you a variety of sizes, it also allows you to mix, seal and refrigerate if you need to prepare a dish before a party or allow part of a recipe to cool in the fridge. Great deal, great for cooking & baking. Stacks and stores well too. I believe they sell the bowls individually as well, though I'm not sure as I opted for the complete set.

You can never have too many mixing bowls, unless of course you don't have enough storage space for them. But when making anything I hate it when I have to use the same bowl over and over again for my liquids and solids. With all these bowls, that's never a problem.

Double-Wall Melamine Mixing Bowls with Lids
Shop for it at:
Recommendation:

When baking or cooking I like the melamine bowls because they are so lightweight and easy to lift. The problem is also that they are so lightweight, they can slid around the counter and sometimes even tip over. This product has the solution to that problem by having a non-skid bottom surface. It's also a bonus that the lids are available (eliminating the need for foil or saran wrap) and you have a small handle to hold on to when using. Can't go wrong with these smart bowls.

I used these kinds of wide, shallow, very lightweight mixing bowls in culinary school and they are indespensable to me. I can easily toss salad, sauce pasta, or let bread rise in these bowls. Plus, they are so light that carrying them from counter to coutner doesn´t snap my wrist the way my glass bowls do. Because my kitchen is so minute, I rest these bowls in C-hooks bored into one of my walls.
