I'm a little concerned about the unconventional nature of this planner because I'm a pretty bad procrastinator, but maybe if I take my distractions and detours into account while planning I can get myself on task easier.

OK OK, so this is a concept notebook and not technically available, but isn't that kind of the point of "this next?" Intel's metro notebook sports a second display on the OUTSIDE of the laptop, using non volatile memory and e-ink to display calendar, email, and other neat things that you need access when you're walking around...with this hip laptop slung over your shoulder. That's right...slung over your shoulder. This concept is designed primarily for women, but the specs make it a nice compact to carry around: sub-0.7in thick, 1kg. Heck, I would love to sport a laptop with those dimensions, without the shoulder strap of course. Then again, I don't see how ANYONE would feel comfortable carrying their notebook this way.

  • Moleskine 2008 Soft Weekly Planner Moleskine 2008 Soft Weekly Planner - Photo

    Recommendation:

Nothing means the start of a new year like the purchase of a brand new, crisp, clean, completely blank Moleskine weekly planner. Though the Italian company calls itself "The legendary notebook of Hemingway, Picasso, and Chatwin", it actually opened in 1996, and fashions its notebooks after Chatwin's descriptions of his beloved notebook (which were produced in France). Nonetheless, with the week on the left and room for notes on the right, a large pocket in the back, a ribbon bookmark for easy access to the current date, and that signature oilcloth cover and elastic closure, it is the closest thing I've found to a perfect weekly planner (I turn mine sideways to view the week landscape-style). ($10.45 at MoleskineUS)
