No big surpises here- I love the Nano and use it extensively in my car to listen to podcasts and audiobooks. Because I don't have a direct connection to my car stereo, the audio quality in my car is not great for music but it is fine for spoken word stuff. The software is also good in that it remembers where you were in a track so you can skip around betweenn audiobooks w/out losing your place.

I have seen iPod cases like this on the DIY circuit for some time now, but, having the self-motivation and talent of a stoned sloth. So I was very happy to see that someone had finally realized the gap in the market created by lazy people, like me, and has decided to mass produce this product. The someone in question is actually from a company called 'Contexture Design' and the product is actually a real, hollowed out cassette tape. The tape is then given the proper holes for headphones, foam padding, and a plastic protective screen that allows you to access the click-wheel. Note: This product only currently fits generation 1 and 2 Nanos, so any one with a newer model will have to use the old fashioned scissors and glue method (oh well. You really didn't want to keep that old Hootie and the Blowfish cassette, now did you?).

Marware makes my fav cases for my Nano- good construction, reasonably priced (@ least in comparison to other Nano sleeves), and good design. I like the SportSuit the best- slim form factor, control pad works well thru the plastic face, and neoprene that looks cool while protecting the nano. Great for travel and outdoor sports.

This is one awesome little device. I love my nano but it seems to run out of power too easily. I guess I could bring a charger everywhere but I think just having the long-lasting battery is a more elegant solution. Great for extended outdoor trips. Plus, the device is eco-friendly so I like that too.

This is the bourbon to have at your side when you want to show Scotch a thing or two about complexity, satisfaction and taste. Only bested by the much more scarce 23 Year Old, Pappy's isn't for Manhattans. Sip it neat and sparing for its honey, wood, smoke and spice subtlety. It isn't benign but it slides down buttery smooth. If you're inclined, a serious cigar wouldn't hurt. Pour Pappy's for a nice vacation in a single glass. If you're really lucky, you'll stumble on a bottle of the fleeting 23.

If you're in town next week, Los Angeles' oldest jeans company is re-opening it's doors under the watchfull eye of master trendsetter Michael Cassel (Von Dutch). After finding a 100 year old pair and carefully researching and reproducing the fabric, stitching and hardware, the Stronghold Jeans Company (originally established in 1895) is re-opening mid-august. With both ready-to-wear models, and a jeans couture options where you can pick your own denim fabric and get measured for a completely custom fit. Old Navy has been a staple in my girl's wardrobe from the start. I call them her "disposable clothes" - and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Durable and affordable, ON is a longtime fave. Finally! A hack for the Nike+ sensor that allows you to use it on any shoes (not just Nike) and without the use of: tape, ingenuity, exacto-knife, superglue, scissors or thread and needle. True, it costs $9.95 but for those of us lacking the Macgyver gene yet too cheap to to fork over >$100 for a pair of Nikes...this does not seem like a high price to pay.
