For those of us who never exactly learned to type correctly. This keyboard may look like any other, but it's not. The keys here, instead of some arbitrary placement, are in alphabetical order.

Simply beautiful. This keyboard allows you to change what each key shows (each key is a little color display). This would be very helpful in learning to be productive in programs like Photoshop that are keyboard intensive if you want to be fast. This is available 2/2006. The only thing that would make me pass on it is if the tactile response is not good.

As they say in the Linux community, Microsoft makes great computer hardware accessories. I've been using the Microsoft Natural keyboard series for years and the 4000 model is the best I've tried. The angles are even stronger which makes for more natural hand positioning; the wrist pad is soft; and the keys have great travel and are almost silent (nice when you're in a room with other developers). Now if I could only get a mouse that clicks silently.

Just when you thought we'd come to the evolutionary end of ergonomic keyboards, we get this crazy thing. Looks like a prop from a failed sci-fi pilot, but it's just awkward enough it might work.

The beautiful lines and aluminum enclosures that Apple made famous in their MacBooks have made their way to their accessories. This keyboard is stunningly thin (you can carry it with your laptop), yet large enough to make typing comfortable. It's the perfect partner to any bluetooth enabled laptop. Simple, stunning, and easy to use. I couldn't live without it.

This is a great keyboard for anyone into home video editing. It's got the built-in jog/shuttle controller that makes it so much easier to move quickly and precisely through your video clips. I also love the sticker sets that come with the keyboard. They offer different program shortcuts for lots of the most popular applications. They're really helpful for learning your programs quicker. (And, they're really good sticker sets -- they don't peel off after a month or two of using them. Once you stick them on, they're on for good!) Plus, the keyboard can be used on either a PC or Mac computer, and it can be used as a regular keyboard with the standard applications (Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, etc.) Another super cool thing about this keyboard is that it's the first keyboard with USB 2.0 ports built into it. So, even if you're not into video editing, that's a really great feature to have. I hate having to crawl around with a flashlight under my desk trying to find the lone USB port that doesn't already have something plugged into it in the back of my computer. Now, I can just plug in my iPod or my USB flash drive directly into my keyboard. This is a really great product for someone who loves editing their home movies (like me!), and for people who want to learn their new editing programs quickly. One warning though: Once you start using the DV Keyboard, you'll never be able to go back to anything else!

It's blank. No letters, no numbers, no F5. For the touch typist who is clearly badass and wants everyone to know it. And if you still have fond memories of those original IBM PC keyboards with the deliciously decisive clicking action, this baby's gold-plated mechanical key switches will feel like coming home.

Speaking from experience, there have been many times that I wished I'd had a noiseless keyboard. Too many roommates shouting "KEEP IT DOWN IN THERE!" while I'm trying to write the next great American novel. And ... er, update my MySpace page. Still, there's nothing stopping me from getting one of these now!
